Welcome to the Family – Steve Bailey

Aotea local makes the move to real estate

Timing is everything, and we’re grateful that the stars have aligned and brought Steve Bailey to our Harcourts Paremata office. Steve joins the award winning Team Ritchie, bringing a whole new set of skills and knowledge to Aotea real estate.

At the age of 24 Steve bought his first home, and then went on to build and sell a couple of houses in Aotea. He is therefore familiar with Aotea real estate, and naturally, this sparked his interest and led to the completion of his real estate qualification. When he purchased a section through Marty Ritchie, the seeds were  sown for getting into the real estate industry. After a lot of thought and waiting until the time was right, he finally decided to get his license. Fortunately, he says, the opportunity remained to join Team Ritchie at Harcourts Paremata.

Steve brings 15 years of experience in different sales roles, making for a natural progression to his new career. The last two years he has spent as a stay at home dad, where his involvement in the Aotea community has further increased. He says that his favourite ways to connect with people is “usually at social events, which lately has been at kindy drop offs and kids birthday parties!”

As a born and bred Wellingtonian, there’s no doubt that Steve is familiar with the local area. He is proud to have called Aotea home for the past 12 years. “I love Aotea as it’s a safe, quiet and family friendly neighbourhood. We’ve got Bothamley Park in our back yard and a great local café and fish n’ chip shop”. His knowledge of the local community is extensive – undoubtedly a great asset for buying or selling in the area.

‘So far so good’ sums up his first two weeks on the job. “The team invited me back for another week” he jokes, “and I’ve worked my way into the coffee rotation!”. We’re glad he’s here to stay. With his first property under offer and a couple of appraisals lined up, it’s safe to say he’s off to a fantastic start.

Being a good listener and understanding exactly what it is that people want are important qualities to have when working in real estate, he believes. Then, providing a solution to achieve a positive result for it all. “On top of all that, it’s about being relatable and down to earth while still having that drive to be successful.”

A hard worker, Steve acknowledges that he is “all for mucking in and doing whatever it takes to get the job done. I have a good eye for detail and believe presentation is key. I’m certainly not averse to picking up a vacuum or a lawn mower if that’s what is required”. There’s no doubt that he will fit in well with the rest of the Harcourts Paremata team.

We love his willingness to give anything a go, and his dedication to achieving success for both his clients and his colleagues. “Most importantly,” Steve acknowledges, “I’m a proud dad of two boys with another baby on the way. I want to teach them not to be afraid of hard work and a good work ethic”.
